La collaborazione fra Alessandro "Asso" Stefana e Zeno de Rossi nasce all'interno del gruppo di VINICIO CAPOSSELA di cui fanno parte in pianta stabile da diversi anni. Si unisce a loro in questo viaggio Danilo Gallo, contrabbassista che "/si aggira scuro dalle parti delle budella/" e che con Zeno condivide varie esperienze culminate nel collettivo El Gallo Rojo, una delle più interessanti realtà nell'ambito del jazz trasversale e indipendente italiano.
La realizzazione di questo loro primo disco vanta il prezioso contributo di alcuni prestigiosi ospiti come ALESSANDRO ALESSANDRONI (il grande fischiatore delle indimenticabili colonne sonore di Ennio Morricone), GARY LUCAS (storico chitarrista di Jeff Buckley e Captain Beefheart), CHRIS SPEED (eclettico clarinettista collaboratore di Tim Berne, Uri Caine, John Zorn) e il leggendario BOBBY SOLO che per i GUANO PADANO ha magistralmente interpretato un vecchio brano di Hank Williams, "Ramblin' Man". A questi si sono affiancati nell'esecuzione di alcuni brani PIERO BITTOLO BON al sassofono, ALFONSO SANTIMONE all'organo e RICCARDO PITTAU alle trombe, mentre ENRICO GABRIELLI (Afterhours, Mariposa) ha curato l'arrangiamento degli archi qui suonati da STEFANO ROVEDA, MARIA VICENTINI e DANIELA SAVOLDI.
Tutto il lavoro e' stato registrato e mixato al Perpetuum Mobile da MARCO TAGLIOLA mentre la parte grafica e' stata curata da SARA MENEGHINI e quella fotografica da ROBERTO CAVALLI.

Per descrivere Guano Padano si è scomodato nientepopodimenoche Joey Burns dei Calexico. Ecco le sue impressionii a caldo:
"/...Jack Frost has all the comforts of home; fireplace, wood floor, banjo, whiskey soaked reverb electric guitar, drums and upright bass....
....Del Rey is built on a Hawaiian guitar motif followed by star spinning string arrangements that seem to race across a chromatic night sky. Reverb drenched lines, vibraphone tremolo and eastern influence chord changes makes this song stand out amongst the other tracks. The diminished melodies and transitions helps build a deep sense of tension throughout the song until the second half picks up with the rhythm section running down the country style romp... it is these wonderfully weird pairings stylistically and within the arrangements that makes this album a unique and bold outing...
....Epiphany starts with organ and glockenspiel scoping out a night time scene all the while strange sounds gurgle and boil in the background making this another track destined for the soundtrack files of Hollywood's up and coming movie scores.... At the end of the song, the band gets caught up in a dub delay web that feels more like a lasso is trying to slow down an iron horse out of control. Great liveliness and performances here...
IF THERE EVER WAS A SOUNDTRACK WAITING TO FIND ITS MATE IN THE CINEMATIC WORLD, THIS ALBUM BY GUANO PADANO WILL SURELY FIND GOOD COMPANIES WITH THE LIKES OF FELLINI, LEONE, JARMUSCH and SOFIA COPPOLA/"
